Unikátní střednějurské stopy teropodů a sauropodů z Maroka

Ve střednějurských vrstvách (období bajok) pohoří Vysoký Atlas v severním Maroku byly nalezeny dinosauří stopy patřící teropodům a sauropodům. Lokalita s názvem Ifgh ležící na severu oblasti Msemrir se vyznačuje zvláštními sériemi stop: částečně ploskochodné stopy teropodího typu se střídají s prstochodnými. Stopy sauropodů jsou zase rozmístěny do nepravidelných shluků, přičemž v některých výrazně převažují otisky předních končetin. Tyto nálezy nasvědčují tomu, že sauropodi zde pravděpodobně plavali v jakési mělké laguně, přičemž se předními končetinami odráželi ode dna - podobné charakteristiky vykazují i stopy giganta s ichnotaxonomickým pojmenováním Breviparopus, které byly rovněž nalezeny v Maroku. Je rovněž možné domnívat se, že přinejmenším někteří z dinosaurů vykazovali částečně ploskochodný způsob chůze.

In the Bajocian Hight Atlas calcareous beds of Ifgh (norhern Msemerir) are dinosaur footprints reported to theropod and sauropod ichnites. The described neightbouring sites are in Arhbalou and Taoudaat (at NE) and Adrar-n-Ouglagal (SW),in addition to another non studied in the same Msemerir area. The site has peculiar trackways and footprints of theropod type (semiplantigrades alternated with digitigrades) and irregular groups of sauropod footprints too in some of wich manus only marks are mainly. Among other things its probably that sauropods were swimming and there are evidences in order to say that one of the dinosaurs had semiplantigrade optional gait. Dinosaurs made his traks in an algae laminated bed which is traversed and deformed by their feet. Therefore, although there are so much direct structures, most of the outline footprints are undertracks and not true footprints.
